Club Marina Now Accepting Bookings

On my first trip to Nosara, I was so in love with the place, I was cracking jokes about how I was going to move there and open a tiki bar.

“I have the perfect name,” I told my family. “I’ve been holding onto it for years. It’ll be called Club Marina.” (Marina is my middle name.)

At the time, it was a pipe dream. I couldn’t imagine leaving my life in Chicago then, and yet, I felt this strange, full-body resonance with Nosara. I belonged.

It was the same feeling I had the first time I visited Chicago, like my heart was telling me, this is the next place. It was a calling.

On our last morning in Costa Rica, before we left for the airport, I walked Guiones beach alone. It was about 5:30 a.m. and I had the place to myself. The pink and blue sky was glittering over the sand in low tide, and I felt complete transcendence.

A Rastafarian surfer walked past me on his way into the waves, board in hand. “Do you surf?” he asked.

“Not yet,” I replied. “But I’d like to.”

“When you’re ready to learn, come and find me,” he said with a wave as he waded into the water.

It felt like an invitation to more than just a surf lesson. It was the Universe’s invitation to a different life.

Two and half years later, what seemed like a pipe dream has come to full fruition. Club Marina didn’t turn out to be a tiki bar (yet!), but a boutique vacation rental property with three shipping container homes.

So I’m really proud as we open up Club Marina for bookings, to pass along the invitation to experience something exceptional.

Nosara is waiting. When you’re ready, come and find us.
